A specialized program designed to equip students with the knowledge and mastery of the Ten Minor Qirā’āt (al-Qirā’āt al-‘Ashr al-Sughrā). The course focuses on understanding their principles (uṣūl), detailed applications (farsh), and their profound meanings. Students will practice directly with qualified teachers who hold high, connected chains of transmission (isnād), enabling them to recite the Qur’an in all ten recognized readings as revealed to the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ.
The program is best studied through five core subjects:
Memorization of al-Shāṭibiyyah and al-Durrah.
Explanation of these texts and application of the Ten Qirā’āt throughout the Qur’an.
‘Adad Āyāt al-Qur’ān (Counting the Verses of the Qur’an).
Tawjīh al-Qirā’āt (Linguistic and Tafsīr-based Explanation of Qirā’āt).
The ‘Uthmānī Script.

Lesson 1: Introduction to the Science of Maqamat, with information and practical exercises on Maqam Ajam.
Lesson 2: Introduction to Voice Science and its mechanisms, with exercises on Maqam Ajam.
Review: General revision and training on the eight fundamental Maqamat.
Unit Two: The Eight Core Maqamat
Students will study the eight original Maqamat as follows:
Lesson 1: Maqam Saba and breathing extension exercises.
Lesson 2: Maqam Rast, vocal ornamentation (‘Arab Sautiyyah) and related exercises.
Lesson 3: Maqam Nahawand and the distinction between vocal ornamentation and vibrato.
Lesson 4: Maqam Bayati and expressive/illustrative recitation.
Lesson 5: Maqam Sika, awareness of pitch inaccuracy (Nashaz) and professional methods for avoiding it.

Upon successful completion of the Diploma in the Science of Maqamat and Voice program, students will:
